| Taffy: | (brightens up) There's your big black spear at home. Let me run back to the cave and ask Mummy to give it to me. |
| Tegumai Bopsulai: | (shakes his head) It's too far for your little fat legs. Besides, you might fall into the beaver-swamp and be drowned. We must make the best of a bad job. |

| (Taffy and Stranger-man start miming, with Taffy waving her arms and Stranger-man nodding and smiling politely. Eventually, Stranger-man hands Taffy a piece of bark.) | |

| Tegumai Bopsulai: | (surprised) A letter? |
| Taffy: | (proudly) Yes, to ask Mummy for the other spear! |
| Tegumai Bopsulai: | (impressed) Clever girl! |

| Tengumai Bopsulai: | (Struggling to get up) pull Taffy, pull. |

| Teshumai: | Where is fish? What are we going to have in dinner and what's this? |
