  2. It can damage body tissues and cause fibrosis of the lungs.
  3. It can reduce the number of white blood cells and weaken the body’s ability to fight infections.
  4. It can damage the eyes and cause cataracts.
  5. It can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and haemorrhage, especially after exposure to high levels of radiation.
  6. It can damage cells and may lead to cancer or death.
  7. It can damage reproductive cells and cause genetic mutations and abnormalities.
  8. Genetic damage may be passed on to future generations.
