Solution
The distance travelled by Katrina in the morning = `6 1/2` km = `13/2` km
The distance travelled by Katrina in the evening = `8 3/4` km = `35/4` km
∴ Total distance travelled by her
= `13/2` km + `35/4` km
= `(13 xx 2)/(2 xx 2)` km + `35/4` km ...[∵ L.C.M. of 2 and 4 = 4]
= `26/4` km + `35/4` km
= `((26 + 35) km)/4`
= `61/4` km
= `15 1/4` km
