Solution

  1. The correspondence Bias: The fundamental attribution error is the habit of giving too much importance to internal (personal) reasons when explaining someone’s behavior, even when there are obvious external (situational) factors involved. In other words, we often wrongly assume that people’s actions are mainly due to their personality rather than the situation they are in.
  2. The Self Serving Bias: We often explain our successes by pointing to our own abilities and personal traits (internal causes), while blaming failures on outside circumstances beyond our control (external causes). This mindset also shows up in group behavior, where we believe our own group (the in-group) is always right, and the other group (the out-group) is always wrong. This way of thinking is known as the self-serving bias, which may arise from both cognitive reasons (how we process information) and motivational reasons (protecting our self-esteem).
