In the given figure, ABCD is a rectangle inscribed in a circle having length 8 cm and breadth 6 cm. If π = 3.14 then the area of the shaded region is 30.5 cm2.

Explanation:


The circle’s diameter equals the rectangle’s diagonal = `sqrt(8^2 + 6^2)` = 10 cm, so radius = 5 cm. 

Circle area = πr2

= 3.14 × 25 

= 78.50 cm2 

Rectangle area = 8 × 6 

= 48 cm2

Shaded area = 78.50 – 48

= 30.50 cm2
