Presentation on Puran Poli

Greet the audience:
Good morning to all of you gathered here.

Introduce the members of your group and your topic:
Today we Nikita, Aman and Neha are here to tell you about Puran Poli, a popular festive dish prepared in Maharashtra.

Explain the structure of your presentation:
We will start off with the name of the dish and its ingredients. Following this, we will move on to its preparation and serving. The next point we will deal with is its taste and special ritual. Finally, we will speak about a special memory connected with this dish.

Speak about the first point:
Let’s begin by talking about Puran Poli. In some other parts of India, similar sweet flatbreads are known by names such as Obbattu or Holige.

Describe the details:
The main ingredients used are wheat flour, chana dal, jaggery, cardamom and ghee.

First, chana dal is cooked and mixed with jaggery. It is then flavoured with cardamom and made into a soft filling called puran. Wheat flour dough is prepared separately. The puran is stuffed inside the dough, rolled into a flatbread and cooked on a hot pan with ghee.

Puran Poli is usually served hot with ghee, milk or katachi amti. It tastes sweet, soft and delicious.

A special tradition is to prepare Puran Poli during festivals such as Holi and Gudi Padwa. In many homes, it is first offered to God before being served to the family.

One special memory associated with this dish is preparing it together with grandparents and other family members. Everyone helps in the kitchen, making the occasion joyful and memorable.

Conclude your presentation:
In conclusion, Puran Poli is not only a delicious dish but also an important part of Maharashtra’s festive traditions and family celebrations.

Thank the audience:
Thank you for listening.
Thank you for your attention.
