Solution

Let the number of boys be $$9x$$ and girls be $$5x$$.

Given number of girls = $$5x = 425$$. $$x = \frac{425}{5} = 85$$

Total number of students = $$9x + 5x = 14x$$.

Total students = $$14 \times 85 = 1190$$.

Therefore, the total number of students in the school is 1190.
