Solution

We have,

In a rectangular solid l : b : h = 5 : 4 : 2. If its volume is 1080 cm3,

Let the length of the rectangular solid be 5x cm

The breadth of the rectangular solid be 4x cm

And the height of the rectangular solid be 2x cm

Now, the volume of the rectangular solid is l × b × h, where l is the length, b is the breadth and h is the height.

Then,

1080 = 5 × 4 × 2

1080 = 40x3

x3 = 27

x = 3

Therefore, the dimensions of the rectangular solid are,

Length = 5 × 3 = 15 cm

Breadth = 4 × 3 = 12 cm

Height = 2 × 3 = 6 cm
