Solution
Number of students appeared in 2007 – 08 = 105332
Number of students appeared in 2008 – 09 = 116054
Number of students passed in 2007 – 08 = 88151
Number of students passed in 2008 – 09 = 103804
Passed percentage of students in 2007 – 08
= `("Number of students passed in" 2007 - 08)/("Number of students appeared in" 2007 - 08) xx 100`
= `88151/105332 xx 100`
= `8815100/105332`
= 83.68%
Passed percentage of students in 2008 – 09
= `("Number of students passed in" 2008 - 09)/("Number of students appeared in" 2008 - 09) xx 100`
= `103804/116054 xx 100`
= `10380400/116054`
= 89.44%
∴ Increase in percentage = 89.44 – 83.68 = 5.76%
