Solution

My Dearest Family,

It has been a long time since I left our village in India to work as an indentured labourer in the Caribbean, and I wanted to share my experiences with you.

Life here is not as I had expected. The work on sugarcane plantations is strenuous, with long days. The sun beats down relentlessly, and the fields appear endless. We face challenging circumstances, and the daily goal of arduous work is well beyond what can be accomplished. We are receiving very low wages. It is difficult to survive here. Agents duped us by providing inaccurate information about final destinations, modes of transportation, the nature of the work, and housing and working circumstances. They told nothing but lies.

Despite the challenges, I remain hopeful. Despite the challenges, I found comfort in the friendship of my coworkers. We share our experiences, dreams, and ambitions for a brighter future.

I dream of returning home and reuniting with all of you. Until then, please know that you are constantly in my thoughts and prayers.

Yours,
Rishi
