Question
If the lines 2x – 3y – 5 = 0 and 3x – 4y – 7 = 0 are the diameters of a circle, then its centre is:
Options
(-1, 1)
(1, 1)
(1, -1)
(-1, -1)

Solution
(1, -1)
Explanation:
To get centre we must solve the given equations
2x – 3y – 5 = 0 …….(1)
3x – 4y – 7 = 0 ………(2)
(1) × 3 ⇒ 6x – 9y = 15
(2) × 2 ⇒ 6x – 8y = 14
Subtracting, -y = 1 ⇒ y = -1
Using y = -1 in (1) we get
2x + 3 – 5 = 0
⇒ 2x = 2
⇒ x = 1
