If log5 a = 2, log3 b = 3, find the value of 3a – 2b.

Solution

Given log5 a = 2

a = 52

a = 25

⇒ log3 b = 3

b = 33

b = 27

Substitute the values:

3a – 2b

= 3 × 25 – 2 × 27

= 75 – 54

= 21
