Solution

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) calculates the Human Development Index (HDI) based on three main dimensions of human development: health, education, and standard of living. Health is measured by life expectancy at birth, education by mean years of schooling and expected years of schooling, and standard of living by GNI per capita. These indicators are combined to calculate the HDI value. According to the Human Development Report 2025, India has an HDI value of 0.685 and ranks 130th worldwide. India falls under the medium human development category.
