Question
I am not worried about whether it is a single-party or coalition government; I am more worried about what they do. Does a coalition government involve more compromises? Can we not have bold and imaginative policies in a coalition?

Solution
Coalition partners may need to compromise to agree on a common programme, particularly when they differ on ideology or regional priorities. But compromise does not rule out bold or imaginative policies: partners can agree on ambitious measures when they share priorities and negotiate effectively. A coalition’s quality should therefore be judged by its policies, implementation and accountability, not simply by the number of parties in government.
