Solution

We know that,

Area of a square is (Side) × (Side)

Then, area of a square glazed tile of side 8 cm is 8 × 8 = 64 cm2

Now, the curved surface area of a cuboid is 2(l + b) × h, where l is the length, b is the breadth and h is the height.

Then, area of the walls of a room is 2(4 + 3) × 2

= 28 m2

= 280000 cm2   ...(∵ 1 m2 = 10000 cm2)

Now, number of glazed tiles = `"Total area of walls"/"Area of one glazed tile"`

= `(28 xx 10000)/64`

= 4375

Now if 25 tiles cost ₹ 40

Then, 4375 tiles cost ₹ `40/25 xx 4375` = ₹ 7000

Therefore, the cost of tiling the walls of the room is ₹ 7000.
