How is the waste in your area managed?

• In my area, household waste is separated into three dustbins based on its type: dry waste, wet or organic waste, and toxic waste.
• Dry waste includes recyclable materials such as plastic, metal, glass and paper. These materials can be sent for recycling.
• Wet waste mainly consists of organic materials like leftover food, fruit and vegetable peels, and stalks of leafy vegetables. This waste is used to make compost, which can be used as manure for gardens.
• Toxic waste includes harmful materials such as electronic waste, medicines and batteries. It is collected separately and disposed of carefully to protect people and the environment.
