Solution
Micturition is controlled by the central nervous system. As the urinary bladder fills, its walls stretch and sensory impulses are sent to the spinal cord and brain. The brain coordinates contraction of the detrusor muscle and relaxation of the internal sphincter. The external urethral sphincter is under voluntary control. When it is relaxed, urine passes from the bladder through the urethra to the outside.
