Solution

  1. Diapause and hibernation differ in their nature and the organisms that exhibit them.
  2. Diapause is a stage of suspended development to cope with unfavourable conditions.
  3. Many species of Zooplankton and insects exhibit diapause to tide over adverse climatic conditions during their development.
  4. Hibernation or winter sleep is a resting stage where animals escape winter (cold) by hiding in their shelters.
  5. They escape the winter season by entering a state of inactivity, slowing their metabolism.
