Solution
Atmospheric pressure decreases with an increase in height. our atmosphere comprises a large number of parallel layers. The pressure on a layer is equal to the thrust or weight of the gaseous column on the unit area of that layer. Hence, as we go up, the weight of the gaseous column decreases, which decreases the pressure of the gaseous column.
