Transformation of normal cells into cancerous neoplastic cells may be induced by following physical, chemical or biological agents causing DNA damage:
- Ionising radiations like X-rays and gamma rays
- Non-ionizing radiations like UV.
- Chemical carcinogens present in tobacco smoke
