Solution

Sr. No. Acid salts Normal salts
1. Acid salts retain replaceable hydrogen ions. Normal salts have no replaceable hydrogen ions.
2. Acid salts form by partial neutralisation.  Normal salts form by complete neutralisation.
3. Acid salts require polybasic acids. Normal salts form from any acid.
4.  Acid salts turn blue litmus red. Normal salts generally do not affect litmus.
5. Example: Sodium hydrogensulphate (NaHSO4) is an acid salt. It forms when dibasic sulphuric acid is partially neutralized.
\[\ce{NaOH + H2SO4 -> NaHSO4 + H2O}\]
Example: Sodium chloride (NaCl) is a normal salt. It forms when hydrochloric acid is completely neutralised.
\[\ce{NaOH + HCl -> NaCl + H2O}\]
