Solution
Weight of tomatoes Gowri purchased = `3 1/2` kg
Weight of Brinjal purchased = `3/4` kg
Weight of Onion purchased = `1 1/4` kg
∴ Total weight of the vegetables = `3 1/2 + 3/4 + 1 1/4` kg
= `3 + 1/2 + 3/4 + 1 + 1/4` kg
= `(3 + 1) + 1/2 + 3/4 + 1/4` kg
= `4 + 2/4 + 3/4 + 1/4` kg
= `4 + (2 + 3 + 1)/4` kg
= `4 + 6/4` kg
= `4 + 1 + 2/4` kg
= `5 + 1/2` kg
= `5 1/2` kg
Total weight of vegetables that Gowri purchased = `5 1/2` kg
