Solution
- Globalisation accelerated India’s GDP growth, FDI inflows, and technology transfer, but led to unbalanced growth. Economic gains concentrated in urban, infrastructure-rich regions and in services (IT, finance, telecom), leaving agriculture and many rural areas behind.
- Regional imbalances emerged as industry and MNC activity clustered in a few states, widening the rural–urban gap. Benefits mainly went to skilled, educated, and capital-owning groups, while small producers and informal workers faced tougher competition and precarious livelihoods.
- Technological change and global price volatility also caused job displacement and greater income inequality. To correct these imbalances, policy priorities include targeted rural investment, support for small enterprises, skill development, stronger social protection, and measures to more evenly spread infrastructure and FDI.
