Solution 1

  1. Surface water: Precipitation or seepage from underground causes water on land to form streams and rivers that eventually flow into the sea.
  2. Groundwater: Water from precipitation (rain or snow) flows on the surface. Some water evaporates and the remainder settles into the earth. Groundwater is water gathered beneath the land’s surface and stored in soil, subsoil, or bedrock. Most water eventually reaches the sea. An aquifer is a saturated underground water stream that may easily convey water. Groundwater accounts for 0.66 per cent of usable water on Earth.

Solution 2

Sr. No. Surface water Groundwater
1. On land, surface water creates ponds, rivers, lakes and streams. The water which seeps through the cracks and crevices under the surface of the land is known as ground water.
2. It doesn’t require pumping to use. Before it can be used, it must be pumped out of the ground.
