Solution

Agro-forestry Traditional-forestry
(i) It is the scientific method for preserving agricultural output and forest products. It is a historical practice to use woods recklessly for development and agriculture.
(ii) Agriculture and forests exist side by side. Forests are burned or cleared for farming and settlement.
(iii) It is the best way to maximise the use of limited land. It is a wasteful practice to remove forests for settlements.
(iv) Japan has built a very good agro-forestry system by planting mulberry trees along field borders. Shifting agriculture is an example of traditional forestry, as it involves clearing the forest, which causes deforestation.
