Solution
Magnetic separation is based on the difference in magnetic properties of the components of an ore. The magnetic particles are attracted by a magnet, while the non-magnetic particles are not.
Examples:
- Magnetite (Fe3O4) is separated from impurities by magnetic separation.
- Chromite (FeCr2O4) can also be concentrated by magnetic separation.
