2. Rapid Urbanisation and Infrastructure Development: Large sections of pristine forest are being removed on a constant basis to make way for roads, highways, railway lines, mining facilities and expanding cities.
3. Overgrazing and Fuelwood Collection: Livestock grazing causes harm to young saplings and limits natural tree regeneration. Furthermore, rural communities rely significantly on cutting down forest trees for everyday fuel and cooking.
4. Forest Fires: Frequent and uncontrolled forest fires destroy enormous areas of green cover, kill native wildlife, and deteriorate soil quality, making it impossible for the forest to recover organically.
5. River Valley and Hydroelectric Projects: Large-scale dam construction submerges thousands of hectares of rich, low-lying river valley forests, causing permanent habitat loss.
