Camel is called the ship of the desert because it has, adapted itself to the harsh environment of the desert in the following ways :
- Its long legs with padded feet enable it to move fast over-sand.

- It is capable of picking very small leaves from even thorny bushes.
- It has a good capacity to carry loads.
