Solution

When acetic acid (CH3COOH) only partially ionizes when dissolved in water, it is referred to as a weak electrolyte. Even while the degree of ionization increases with dilution, the number of ions per unit volume drops. Dilution reduces overall conductivity, even as ionization increases, because conductivity depends on the concentration of free ions in the solution.
