Solution

Water is not added to concentrated sulphuric acid because the reaction is highly exothermic. A large amount of heat is produced suddenly, which may cause the acid to splash or boil violently, leading to accidents.

Therefore, acid is always added slowly to water and never water to concentrated acid.
