2. As the population of urban centres grew, so did the demand for numerous uses of urban land, putting significant strain on the land use system. Meanwhile, transit routes connecting the main city enable better access to its outskirts and beyond. As a result, cities rapidly expand beyond their official boundaries.
3. Urban lifestyle extended to nearby areas, and suburbs emerged throughout time. However, residents in the suburbs remained to rely largely on the major city for their occupations and jobs. As therefore, the suburbs close to major cities are growing quickly.
