1. From Odisha to the Nilgiri hills, it travels parallel to the eastern coast in a north-east to south-west direction. From the Tapi River to Kanyakumari, it travels north-south parallel to the western coast.
2. It is situated roughly 600 meters above sea level on average. It is located between 900 and 1100 meters above sea level on average.
3. Its terrain is more irregular and broken, and rivers cut through it. It is only passable via passes and is more even and continuous.
4. This is not the source of any major rivers. Numerous sizable rivers that flow through Peninsular India originate from there.
