Colour blindness is incurable because it is caused by genetic mutations in the genes on the X-chromosome that affect the red or green cones in the eye. Since these mutations alter the genetic makeup and the photoreceptor cells cannot be regenerated or repaired, the defect remains permanent. There is currently no treatment available to restore normal color vision as it involves inherited changes in the eye’s cellular structure.
