No precipitation is observed with calcium salts on adding excess ammonium hydroxide because calcium hydroxide is sufficiently soluble in water and does not form an insoluble precipitate with ammonium hydroxide.

Therefore, Ca2+ ions do not give a precipitate with ammonium hydroxide.
