Chhattisgarh is the ‘Rice Bowl of India.’

• The state has fertile soil, abundant rainfall, and favourable climatic conditions which make it ideal for rice cultivation.
• More than 75% of the total cropped area of Chhattisgarh is under paddy cultivation, and rice is the principal food crop of the state. Hence, due to its dominance in rice production, Chhattisgarh is popularly known as the “Rice Bowl of India.”
