Solution

The total volume of water in the oceans and seas remains constant because of the continuous operation of the water cycle, also known as the hydrological cycle. In this natural process, water from the oceans and seas evaporates due to the heat of the sun and rises into the atmosphere as water vapour. This vapour cools and condenses to form clouds, eventually falling back to the Earth's surface as precipitation in the form of rain, snow, or hail. The water that falls onto land flows back to the oceans and seas through rivers, streams, and underground channels. Despite changing its form, liquid, vapour, or solid, the water is constantly circulated within the Earth’s system. This recycling ensures that the overall volume of water in the oceans and seas remains stable over time.
