For the following set of numbers, find the median:

10, 75, 3, 81, 17, 27, 4, 48, 12, 47, 9, 15

Arrange the given terms in ascending order: 

3, 4, 9, 10, 12, 15, 17, 27, 47, 48, 75, 81 

Number of terms = 12 

∴  Median = `[((n/2)^(th) + ((n + 1)/2)^(th))/2]` term  

= `[((12/2)^(th) + ((12 + 1)/2)^("th"))/2]` term 

= `(6^(th) + 7^(th))/2` term

= `(15 + 17)/2`

= `32/2`

= 16 

∴ Median = 16
