Solution

Given: (x + 3, 2y – 3) = (9, –9)

Step-wise calculation:

1. Equate first components:

x + 3 = 9

⇒ x = 9 – 3

= 6

2. Equate second components:

2y – 3 = –9 

⇒ 2y = –9 + 3 

= –6 

⇒ `y = (-6)/2`

= –3

⇒ x = 6, y = –3.
