∴ Alternate interior angles are equal

∴ 2x + 15 = 3x − 40

2x + 15 − 15 = 3x − 40 − 15

2x + 55 = 3x − 55 + 55

2x + 55 = 3x

2x + 55 − 2x = 3x − 2x

55 = x

x = 55°
