Find the M.P. if S.P. = Rs 495 and discount = 1%

Solution
Selling price (SP) = 7495
Discount % = 1%
Let the marked price be Rs x.
∴ Selling price = `"Marked price" - ("Discount" %)/100 xx "MP"`
⇒ `495 = x - 1/100 xx x`
⇒ `495 = (100x - x)/100`
⇒ `495 = (99x)/100` ...[By cross-multiplication]
⇒ 99x = 49500
⇒ x = 500
Hence, the marked price = Rs 500.
