Solution

Let A = (1, –3, 4) and B = (1, 0, –1)

∴ `bar("a") = hat"i" - 3hat"j" + 4hat"k"` and `bar("b") = hat"i" - hat"k"`

∴ `bar("AB") = bar("b") - bar("a")`

= `(hat"i" - hat"k") - (hat"i" - 3hat"j" + 4hat"k")`

= `3hat"j" - 5hat"k"`

∴ Magnitude of `bar("AB") = sqrt(3^2 + (-5)^2)`

= `sqrt(9 + 25)`

= `sqrt(34)`
