Solution

Midpoint formula:

Midpoint of (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) is,

`((x1 + x2)/2), ((y1 + y2)/2)`

Substituting the given points:

x1 = −3, y1 = 5;

x2 = 3, y2 = −5

Compute the x-coordinate:

= `(−3 + 3)/2`

= `0/2`

∴ x-coordinate = 0

Compute the y-coordinate:

= `(5 + (−5))/2`

= `0/2`

∴ y-coordinate = 0

Hence, the co-ordinates of the mid-point of the line segment joining the points are (0, 0)
