Solution

Given expression: 5x2 – 13x – 6

We have to find two numbers whose sum is –13 and whose product is –30.

These numbers are –15 and 2.

Now, using middle term factorisation method,

5x2 – 13x – 6

= 5x2 – 15x + 2x – 6

= 5x (x – 3) + 2 (x – 3)

= (x – 3) (5x + 2)

The factorisation result is (x – 3) (5x + 2).
