Explain the term dislocation.

An injury occurs when the normal position of a joint or another body part is disturbed. In this type of injury, the joint is displaced from its original or usual position. It can be easily diagnosed using an X-ray or by comparing it with a healthy joint. Movement becomes limited, the joint turns stiff, and tenderness may be present. The affected area should be immobilized and a physiotherapist should be consulted.

Symptoms of Dislocation are:

1. The area may become swollen or bruised.
2. The skin may appear red or discoloured.
3. An unusual shape may be seen due to dislocation.
4. There may be restricted movement.
5. Pain may occur while moving the affected part.
6. Numbness may be felt around the area.
7. A tingling sensation may also be experienced.
