Kingdom of Vijaynagar:

  1. Harihar and Bukka were Sardars serving under Sultan Muhammad-bin-Tughluq of Delhi.
  2. During his reign, several revolts took place in South India against the Sultan.
  3. Taking advantage of the unstable political conditions in the South, Harihar and Bukka established the Vijayanagar Kingdom in 1336 CE.
  4. Harihar became the first ruler of the Vijayanagar Kingdom, and Hampi, in present-day Karnataka, was chosen as its capital

Kingdom of Bahamani:

  1. During the reign of the Sultan, some Sardars in the Deccan region revolted against him.
  2. Their leader, Hasan Gangu, took advantage of the situation, defeated the Sultan's army, and founded the Bahamani Kingdom in 1347 CE.
  3. Hasan Gangu became the first Sultan of the Bahamani Kingdom, and Gulbarga, in present-day Karnataka, was made its capital.
