Kingdom of Vijaynagar:
- Harihar and Bukka were Sardars serving under Sultan Muhammad-bin-Tughluq of Delhi.
- During his reign, several revolts took place in South India against the Sultan.
- Taking advantage of the unstable political conditions in the South, Harihar and Bukka established the Vijayanagar Kingdom in 1336 CE.
- Harihar became the first ruler of the Vijayanagar Kingdom, and Hampi, in present-day Karnataka, was chosen as its capital
Kingdom of Bahamani:
- During the reign of the Sultan, some Sardars in the Deccan region revolted against him.
- Their leader, Hasan Gangu, took advantage of the situation, defeated the Sultan's army, and founded the Bahamani Kingdom in 1347 CE.
- Hasan Gangu became the first Sultan of the Bahamani Kingdom, and Gulbarga, in present-day Karnataka, was made its capital.
