Solution

Process of Reabsorption;

The glomerular filtrate contains useful substances such as glucose, amino acids, salts and a large amount of water. As the filtrate passes through the renal tubule, these substances are selectively absorbed back into the blood capillaries surrounding the tubule. Reabsorption occurs by active and passive mechanisms, mainly in the proximal convoluted tubule. Further reabsorption occurs in the loop of Henle, distal convoluted tubule and collecting duct.

Importance of Reabsorption:

Reabsorption is important because it prevents the loss of useful substances from the body. It maintains the normal concentration of water and salts in the blood, helps in osmoregulation and allows the formation of concentrated urine. Nearly 99% of the glomerular filtrate is reabsorbed.
