-
Penalty taker: The player taking the penalty kick stands behind the ball, which is placed on the penalty spot (12 yards out from the goal).
- Goalkeeper: This person must stand on the goal line, between the goalposts, and face the penalty taker. The goalkeeper may move horizontally along the goal line but not off the line (ahead or backward) until the ball is kicked.
- Other players: All other players, from both teams, must be:
- Outside the penalty area.
- Outside the penalty arc (a semicircular arc that extends from the penalty area).
- At least ten yards (9.15 metres) away from the penalty spot.
