Solution
- Personal foul: This occurs when a player makes illegal contact by holding, blocking, pushing, charging, tripping or impeding an opponent, or engages in rough or violent play. A player who commits more than five personal fouls is excluded from the game. Charging is an offensive player pushing or running over a defender; blocking illegally impedes an opponent’s progress.
- Technical foul: This is a non-contact foul involving behaviour such as disregarding a warning, showing disrespect, using foul language or delaying the game.
- Unsportsmanlike foul: This is called for conduct that violates the spirit of fair play or involves hard contact.
- Disqualification foul: This is an unsportsmanlike or violent action committed by a player, coach or member of the delegation that results in disqualification.
Each foul is recorded against the offender and penalised according to the rules. Once a team has committed four fouls in a period, each additional team foul awards two free throws to the opponents.
