Solution

Electrophoresis is the movement of colloidal particles toward a specific electrode when subjected to an electric field. This movement depends on the charge of the particles: positively charged particles move toward the cathode, and negatively charged particles move toward the anode. For example, in sewage disposal, colloidal dirt particles migrate to oppositely charged electrodes under high voltage and coagulate, thus facilitating purification.
